Special Scholarship Awards
Meg Geraghty Memorial Community Service Award
This is awarded to the State Contestant whose community service resume reflects a broad and diverse set of volunteer efforts. This contestant will have worked extensively throughout her community (or extended community) on a variety of community service projects on a volunteer basis. Meg served for many years as the Executive Director for Miss New Hampshire, during the Union Leader’s 54 year sponsorship of the program. Mrs. Geraghty was the “Family Page” editor for the newspaper until she retired in the late 1980’s. She passed away in June of 2007.
The Meg Geraghty Award and the Donald C. Anderson awards may not be awarded to the same contestant in a given year.

Donald C. Anderson Platform Award
This is awarded to the State Contestant whose effort is primarily directed toward the accomplishement of her goals for her specific platform issue. The recipient will have expended significant and tireless effort on her chosen Miss America Platform. The award is named for Don Anderson, who served as the last Executive Director of the Miss NH committee when it was run by the Union Leader newspaper.

Suzanne Knox Memorial Academic Achievement Award
This is a very special award in memory of Suzanne Knox who was Executive Director of the Miss New Hampshire Scholarship Program from 2001 until her unexpected passing on March 29, 2005. Suzanne was a career teacher until she became Executive Director of the Miss New Hampshire Program. The award will be granted to the State Contestant who has the highest achievement in academics with a tie-breaking emphasis on the last four semesters. Criteria will include GPA, the difficulty of the course work, and academic honors and awards. The transcripts will be evaluated by educators.

George Naum Congeniality Award
This award is voted on by the contestants and is awarded to the State Contestant who is the most caring, fun-loving and amicable to her colleagues. Mr. Naum, a retired volunteer of the Miss NH program who worked as a photographer for the Union Leader, embodied those character traits.

Deborah Jean Howard Memorial Teacher Education Scholarship
This $1,000 scholarship award was instituted in 2010 to honor the memory of Deborah Jean Howard, Miss New Hampshire 1991. At the time of her passing, Deborah was a beloved high school teacher in Newfound Regional High School where she prided herself in connecting with the hard to reach students who were at risk. In addition to her work in the classroom she lent her talents to the stage, putting on one-act plays and peforming in community musicals. Any candidate who has participated in at least one local preliminary in a given year (she need not have won the local title), and is majoring in Education may apply.

Lisa Cripps Richer volunteered with the Miss New Hampshire Scholarhsip Program beginning in 1989 after first competing in the program in 1986 as Miss Plymouth State College. She had served as Senior Field Director and on the Board of Directors from 2001 through her passing in January 2013 at the age of 46 after a long and corageous battle with cancer.
The Lisa Cripps Richer Memorial Humanitarian award will go to the current Miss New Hampshire state contestant who, through unending compassion and kindness, has distinguished herself through her involvement in the program. She is kind to all concerned; she has positively impacted the lives of others through her volunteerism; she has gone above and beyond what is required of a titleholder through a sincere sense of goodness; she has high moral and ethical qualities and a sense of iintegrity. The recipient will be selected on the recommendations of one or more Local Chapter leaders and/or a state Field Director.

Choreograhers' Scholarship for Outstanding Achievement in Dance
Our talented co-choreographers, Heidi Sullivan Laroche and Forever Miss New Hampshire Heidi Noyes Bourgeous, spend countless hours volunteering as a part of the all-volunteer production team. Now they collectively donate $1,800.00 to the Scholarship Fund to award three $600 scholarships for the three candidates who perform dance during talent and garner the highest scores from the judges in the preliminary competitions.

Sponsored by Northeast Delta Dental, two recipients will be awarded based on the applicants' current enrollment in or intent to enroll in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) degree program. The successful students will have already excelled in high school or college in their STEM classes, with an intent to seek a career in a STEM field.
